Buy a copy of the book if you can and read it. Learn about the book and what kind of things are in it. Learn about the author, the items that go with it (if any), and so forth. Find out how other marketers are selling the book and see if you can root out the ones that are doing well with it.
Above all, though, know your niche and your product inside out. This will give you confidence in your product as well as your knowledge of it. It also makes it so that you can move on to number 2.

Skill number two is to be an expert in your product and your niche. Now that you've learned skill #1 and have total in-and-out knowledge of your goods, you can begin to show others that you have it.
Go to online forums, discussion groups, blogs, and other sites where people interested in or involved in your niche congregate. Don't be pushy, though, just go and read and see who they are and what kinds of things they're doing in this niche.
Part of being an expert is to understand how others are utilizing the niche or participating in it so you can find needs to fill. Maybe someone will ask about something particular that you know the answer to. Answer them and mention that other answers like that are in your book. Be casual, but include your affiliate link.
This may lead to your first sale. So long as you're not pushy or too over-eager about it, you will likely attract customers without causing problems on the websites you're visiting.
Once you've begun to learn your audience (target market), you'll be able to find ways to further promote your product to them.

Skill number three is the ability to market to your target audience consistently. What this means is that you will not give up, but will be persistent in your efforts to find out more about the niche, the product, and the people to whom you want to sell it.
Again, without being pushy, continue to find new sites, new blogs, new places to converse with those who could be prospective customers. Talk about the niche and insert a mention (and link) for the product whenever it's appropriate.
First and foremost, let people know that you're willing to help, that you are knowledgeable, and that you are there for them. Showing people this instills confidence and establishes you as an expert.
What you'll find out is that that “expert” status is what will be really selling your products.
After you've mastered these three skills, you'll be ready to ad new products to your list of things to sell to this niche. As you continue establishing yourself, you'll find that people will begin asking you about what kinds of products they should use.
